Eating out family-style (multiple dishes to share in the middle of the table) can be very nice as it allows one to taste a wider variety of foods than when ordering ones’ own dish.

But ALWAYS ask for serving spoons/forks/whatever for the shared dishes.

NEVER use or allow others at your table to use the cutlery/chopsticks they eat with to take food from the common dishes.
Except, if you have to, at home within your immediate family.

Even if in some places it’s traditional to do so, I say: some traditions are no good; they need to be banished!

Maybe the spread of the Corona Virus COVID-19 would slow down, and in fact many other diseases may be spread through this practice.
