You should know that even Wired Magazine sometimes writes nonsense!

that it's NOT TRUE that "POWERING OFF a device occasionally helps preserve battery life" and then, instead, go on to talk about (occasionally) FULLY DISCHARGING the battery.
They should know that Powering Off is NOT SAME THING as Fully Discharging a battery.

So, if you need to preserve battery "life" for some reason (you're lost and don't have "signal" or whatever) it helps A LOT to turn your phone off for long periods of time and just turn it on for short periods of time to check if you have "signal".

And Wired should have their articles read by somebody technical before they publish them,
