I do agree singers have other shows they can compete on, so only very special ones (if any) should get to AGT.
In fact if we are to select based on "Talent" we should not hear anybody's story until they are eliminated or they win.
Now THAT's talent; that wins on talent alone!

America's Got Talent should accept less singers

Singers are a fan favourite. But why do most of us watch AGT? We watch it to see new and exciting acts we can't see anywhere else. But... are most singers new and exciting? The answer is no. I can see why groups of singer might go on, as most singing shows likely do not accept them, or singers that don't just sing. Or maybe singers that write their own songs. But what about the singing shows just for them? American Idol, The Voice, and there are likely more that I don't know. 5/11 winners so far have been singers on AGT, not including Terry Fator as he was also a ventriloquist.

Singers fill up spots that could otherwise be given to more interesting acts. All they have to do is sing relatively well, have a sad story, choose an emotionally relatable song and everyone is voting and cheering. Well guess what? They might win a million dollars, but they likely will not maintain it for long. Who is going to pay to go to a Vegas show to watch someone with a sad story sing? Not many people.

To solve this problem, I propose to either limit the amount of singers allowed to proceed to a certain stage of the show, or totally remove singers who have no gimmick such as a special never seen before method of singing or they write songs very well themselves.

What do you think? Vote in the poll.
