If it worked perfectly, teleportation could improve the quality of life of millions of people who spend hours every day on commuting to work, school, etc. If teleportation did make a copy of the person and kill one version of them (à la Prestige), you could be right in that we may never know the horrors that the dead copy is experiencing and it would probably be unethical to teleport humans.

I don't see any reason why teleportation should not become a reality to be used on objects, although maybe the energy consumption would not be worth it for most cases.

Asides from the fact that it is nigh impossible with foreseeable technology, teleportation would essentially kill you and build you back again at a different location. who knows what would happen to your conscious, would YOU be dead and a copy of your brain take your place when you teleport? Or would our conscious end up trapped within this teleportation machine, ex: Steven King’s The Jaunt. Teleportation should NEVER become a reality.
